A street hawker is a familiar figure in towns and villages. He usually lives in a slum or a small hut. He deals in various thing by hawking from street to street. He carries is goods on head and sometimes in hand and sometimes in a small handcart. He generally buys his goods at a cheaper rate and sell them at a good profit. A street hawker is very cunning. He know his business very well. His customers are children and women. He sells various kinds of things including sweets, drinks, ice-cream, chanachur, fancy goods, cosmetic, utensils, clothing, fruits, books, newspapers, clothing and things of domestic uses for women. He speaks different ways to draw the attention of his customers. A hawker also knows the time of his business. He does not come when the housemasters are at home. Rather he comes when the housemasters are out of home and when women are free from their household works and duties. Some of them are honest and because of their chill penury they have become street hawkers. Sometimes even some educated persons are forced to become street hawkers.
