Success can be your enemy - Analyzing Success
Success can be your enemy. If you have enjoyed a period of great prosperity and are well ahead of your competitors, the temptation is to count the money, lie back, and rest on your laurels. That is the moment when slackness begins to creep in. It is important to analyze success as carefully as failure. What special circumstance, outside your control, contributed to the excellent results? After allowing for these, how well did you really do? What could have been done better, with still better result? Most important, what are you going to do for an encore? The objective is to make success a platform for further advance. What matters most is the new target, not the past.
